Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans for municipal employees
- Process retirement applications and calculate benefit distributions
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and Colorado state statutes
- Maintain accurate participant records and financial reporting systems
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding retirement benefits and plan provisions
- Collaborate with finance and HR departments on plan design improvements
- Conduct annual plan audits and regulatory filings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 3+ years of pension plan administration experience
- Knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(k)/403(b) regulations, and CO state pension laws
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Milliman, Alight)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Government/public sector experience preferred
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) designation a plus
