Responsibilities
- Administer state pension plans including contribution calculations, benefit distributions, and record maintenance
- Ensure strict compliance with federal ERISA guidelines and North Carolina pension statutes
- Respond to complex employee inquiries regarding retirement benefits and plan provisions
- Prepare comprehensive annual reports for the State Treasurer's office and regulatory bodies
- Collaborate with HR departments across state agencies to resolve pension-related issues
- Conduct regular audits of pension plan data and financial records
- Develop educational materials for state employees regarding retirement planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in pension administration or retirement plan management
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(k) regulations, and North Carolina pension laws
- Proficiency with pension administration software (e.g., Benefitfocus, Alight)
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to financial detail
