Responsibilities
- Administer defined-benefit pension plans including benefit calculations, vesting schedules, and distribution processing
- Review and approve retirement applications while ensuring compliance with ERISA and NY State regulations
- Manage participant inquiries through secure communication channels during weekend shifts
- Conduct quarterly portfolio reconciliations and financial reporting for fiduciary oversight
- Coordinate with third-party administrators and auditors for compliance audits
- Maintain accurate participant records in the NYSPERS database system
- Develop weekend-specific operational procedures for emergency benefit requests
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years pension administration or retirement plan management experience
- Proficiency in pension software systems (e.g., Millennium, Albridge)
- Strong understanding of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and NY State pension laws
- Weekend availability with ability to work independently during off-peak hours
- FINRA Series 65 or 66 certification preferred
- Experience with fiduciary compliance and risk management frameworks
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail for complex financial calculations
