Responsibilities
- Manage and administer government pension plans, including benefit calculations, eligibility verification, and retirement processing
- Ensure strict adherence to federal/state pension regulations (ERISA, CalPERS) and internal compliance protocols
- Analyze pension fund performance, conduct risk assessments, and prepare comprehensive financial reports
- Collaborate with HR departments to resolve employee inquiries and provide retirement planning guidance
- Develop and implement pension plan policies, procedures, and process improvements
- Oversee pension investments, monitor market trends, and recommend strategic adjustments
- Conduct audits and reconciliations to ensure data integrity and financial accuracy
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in pension plan administration or government finance roles
- Expert knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension systems (CalPERS/CalSTRS)
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., PeopleAdmin, Oracle HCM)
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data and regulatory changes
- Exceptional communication skills for stakeholder engagement and policy development
- Proven experience in remote work environments with self-management capabilities
