Responsibilities
- Administer federal pension plans including FERS and CSRS, ensuring compliance with OPM regulations and IRS guidelines
- Conduct comprehensive benefit calculations, eligibility reviews, and retirement counseling for federal employees
- Develop and implement pension policy improvements based on regulatory changes and industry best practices
- Manage complex pension data systems, ensuring accuracy and security of retirement records
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and HR teams on pension-related audits and reporting requirements
- Provide expert guidance to agency stakeholders on retirement planning and pension regulations
- Lead special projects on pension modernization and digital transformation initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or retirement planning
- Deep knowledge of federal retirement systems (FERS/CSRS), TSP, and ERISA regulations
- Proficiency with pension administration software and HRIS systems (e.g., Oracle HCM, Workday)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex regulations and financial data
- Excellent communication skills for delivering retirement counseling and policy training
- Federal background investigation clearance eligibility
- SHRM-SCP or CEBS certification highly desirable
