Responsibilities
- Administer pension plan operations including benefit calculations, eligibility verifications, and retirement counseling
- Analyze financial data to ensure compliance with state/federal regulations and fund health metrics
- Develop and implement process improvements for pension disbursements and member communications
- Collaborate with state agencies to resolve complex pension inquiries and disputes
- Prepare comprehensive reports on fund performance, actuarial projections, and regulatory compliance
- Maintain accurate pension records using specialized state financial systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration, benefits management, or public finance experience
- Advanced knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) policies
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Workday, Oracle Financials) and data analysis tools
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial regulations
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and member education
- Remote work experience and ability to self-manage deliverables
