Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain municipal pension plan records in compliance with ERISA and state regulations
- Process retirement applications, benefit calculations, and participant inquiries during night shift hours
- Collaborate with government actuaries to conduct annual valuations and funding projections
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports for the Pension Board and City Council
- Implement plan amendments and policy updates through government approval channels
- Train participants on retirement options and distribution methods
- Monitor compliance with IRS and DOL requirements for qualified plans
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension plan administration or retirement benefits experience
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a)/403(b) regulations, and Washington state pension laws
- Proficiency with pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Oracle HCM)
- Ability to work independently during night shift hours (10 PM - 6 AM)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to complex financial calculations
- Government or public sector experience highly preferred
