Responsibilities
- Manage and administer pension plan benefits for city employees and retirees
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension laws
- Analyze financial data to assess plan solvency and funding adequacy
- Prepare annual valuation reports and benefit statements
- Collaborate with external auditors and investment consultants
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding retirement benefits
- Develop and maintain pension plan policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or similar designation
- Proficiency with pension administration software (e.g., Empower, Millennium)
- Strong knowledge of California PERS and municipal pension systems
- Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling experience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
