Join the Social Security Administration in Tucson as a part-time Pension Plan Specialist and play a vital role in securing retirement futures for federal employees. Responsibilities
- Process and verify pension applications for federal employees using SSA systems
- Calculate retirement benefits according to federal pension regulations and life expectancy tables
- Respond to complex pension inquiries via phone, email, and in-person consultations
- Collaborate with HR departments to resolve pension discrepancies and documentation issues
- Maintain accurate records in federal databases while adhering to HIPAA and privacy protocols
- Prepare benefit statements and educational materials for retirement planning seminars
- Stay updated on federal pension legislation (CSRS, FERS) and regulatory changes
Qualifications
- 3+ years of pension administration or retirement benefits experience
- Proficiency with federal benefit systems (e.g., SSA, OPM)
- Valid Federal Security Clearance or ability to obtain one
- Knowledge of CSRS/FERS retirement systems and TSP regulations
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration, or related field
