We are urgently seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Pension Plan Specialist to join our State Government team. Responsibilities
- Manage Pension Administration: Oversee the daily operations of the pension fund, including member record maintenance and benefit calculations.
- Ensure Compliance: Interpret and apply CalPERS regulations, ERISA standards, and state pension laws to ensure the agency remains fully compliant.
- Actuarial Reporting: Prepare and analyze actuarial valuations and provide comprehensive financial reports to stakeholders and the Board of Supervisors.
- Member Services: Serve as the primary point of contact for retirees and active employees, addressing complex inquiries regarding benefits, vested amounts, and retirement eligibility.
- Data Analysis: Utilize advanced data analysis tools to monitor fund performance, project liabilities, and identify trends in retirement patterns.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current workflows and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public sector pension administration, government finance, or a related capacity.
- Certifications: Professional Actuarial Designation (ASA, EA, or FSA) is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel) and experience with pension administration software (e.g., CalPERS systems, SAP, or similar).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of ERISA, 401(k) regulations, and state pension statutes.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
