Responsibilities
- Process retirement applications and benefit calculations with 99.9% accuracy
- Respond to complex pension inquiries via phone/email within 24 hours
- Manage pension plan documentation and digital records using state systems
- Conduct eligibility verifications and compliance audits
- Collaborate with finance and HR teams on pension fund administration
- Prepare monthly/quarterly pension reports for leadership review
- Train new staff on pension procedures and regulatory updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration or benefits experience
- Proficiency with Excel, HRIS systems, and document management software
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS, and Illinois pension regulations
- Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently during weekend shifts (Sat/Sun 7am-3pm)
- Illinois residency required for state government positions
