The Georgia State Retirement System (GSRS) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Pension Plan Specialist to join our dedicated team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of pension benefits for retired state employees. Responsibilities
- Process and verify pension benefit requests and calculations for retirees on weekends.
- Review and reconcile member accounts to ensure data accuracy within the state pension database.
- Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to retirees and beneficiaries via phone and email during weekend hours.
- Assist in the preparation of reports regarding pension fund performance and member status.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal and state regulations regarding pension administration.
- Collaborate with the full-time team to troubleshoot complex pension inquiries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pension administration, human resources, or government benefits processing.
- Strong knowledge of ERISA regulations and Georgia state government pension systems.
- Must be available to work every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) on a rotating schedule.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with the utmost confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and database management software.
