As a Police Dispatcher Trainee, you will be the first point of contact for those in crisis. You will play a critical role in coordinating emergency response efforts, ensuring public safety, and maintaining situational awareness. Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, utilizing Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents based on location, type, and priority.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all communications and dispatch activities.
- Provide critical information to field units, including weather updates, road conditions, and offender descriptions.
- Monitor radio frequencies and CCTV feeds to ensure officer safety and situational awareness.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel during the trainee program.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency in computer operations and typing skills (minimum 35 WPM).
- Must pass a background investigation, drug screen, and medical examination.
