Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize incoming emergency calls, dispatching appropriate police units
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio equipment
- Maintain accurate logs of all incidents and communications
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers during emergencies
- Coordinate with other emergency agencies (fire, EMS) as needed
- Perform data entry and maintain confidential records
- Complete mandatory training programs to achieve dispatcher certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM) with computer proficiency
- Exceptional communication and multitasking abilities
- Calm demeanor under high-pressure situations
- No felony convictions; clean driving record
- Must pass hearing and vision tests
