The Raleigh Police Department is currently accepting applications for Police Dispatcher Trainee positions. Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming 911, non-emergency, and administrative calls with accuracy and urgency.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services units to incidents using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Monitor police radio frequencies and CCTV feeds to maintain situational awareness of ongoing events.
- Enter and update incident reports, citations, and warrants into the Records Management System.
- Provide critical information and support to field officers to ensure their safety and mission success.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and de-escalate tense situations over the phone.
- Perform shift rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid North Carolina Driverβs License with a good driving record.
- Excellent typing skills (minimum 40 WPM) and computer proficiency.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under stressful conditions.
- Must be willing to submit to a thorough background investigation, drug screen, and polygraph examination.
- Previous experience in customer service, call centers, or emergency services is a plus but not mandatory.
