Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency 911 calls with speed and accuracy
- Dispatch police officers and emergency services to incident locations
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all communications
- Operate multi-channel radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Provide clear, concise information to field personnel during emergency situations
- Coordinate with other agencies (fire, EMS) during multi-incident responses
- Complete comprehensive training on department protocols and procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Valid Louisiana driver's license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure emergency situations
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn specialized software
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanor offenses
