Responsibilities
Receive, evaluate, and prioritize incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service.Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel to incidents using two-way radio systems.Enter and update accurate information into computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems in real-time.Maintain constant vigilance of radio frequency activity and monitor local weather alerts.Provide clear directions and information to the public during emergencies and non-emergency situations.Assist in training new dispatch personnel and participate in ongoing performance reviews.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.Ability to type 35-40 WPM (will be tested during the hiring process).Must be at least 18 years of age.Ability to remain calm and make quick, accurate decisions under stressful conditions.Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred but not mandatory.
