Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with precision and empathy
- Operate radio systems to dispatch police units and coordinate responses
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and activities
- Utilize CAD systems to track incident status and resource allocation
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support to callers
- Collaborate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) during multi-agency incidents
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Basic computer literacy and typing skills (40+ WPM preferred)
- Excellent communication and active listening abilities
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in emergencies
- Valid Nebraska driver's license at time of hire
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions; misdemeanors subject to review
