Responsibilities
- Process 911 calls and prioritize emergency responses using provided CAD systems
- Operate radio communication equipment to dispatch police units
- Maintain detailed call logs and incident documentation in RMS
- Coordinate with fire, EMS, and other city agencies during critical incidents
- Utilize mapping software for real-time location tracking
- Provide crisis intervention and pre-arrival instructions to callers
- Participate in ongoing scenario-based training drills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to type 40+ WPM (verified through department test)
- Clear speaking voice with excellent diction
- U.S. citizenship and valid California driver's license
- Pass background check and polygraph examination
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights/weekends
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence charges
