Responsibilities
- Emergency Response: Monitor and dispatch emergency calls (911) to police, fire, and medical units efficiently and accurately.
- Information Management: Enter and maintain detailed incident reports and records in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Unit Coordination: Communicate with field officers to provide updates, coordinates, and support during active incidents.
- Database Management: Access and verify vital records, including warrants, vehicle registrations, and wanted persons.
- Public Liaison: Provide information and assistance to the public in a professional, calm, and reassuring manner.
- Equipment Operation: Operate radio systems, telephone consoles, and computer terminals effectively.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Typing Speed: Ability to type at least 35-45 words per minute (typing test may be required).
- Licensure: Valid Kansas Driverβs License with a good driving record.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly over radio and phone.
- Stability: Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the United States.
