Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with speed and accuracy
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems and radio communication
- Maintain detailed call logs and incident documentation
- Provide critical information to first responders during emergencies
- Multi-task between phone lines, radio traffic, and data entry
- Remain calm and professional during crisis situations
- Complete all required academy and departmental training programs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (will be tested)
- Clear communication skills in English (bilingual Spanish a plus)
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- U.S. citizenship and valid California driver's license
- No felony convictions
- Ability to obtain POST Dispatcher certification within 6 months
