Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via phone, radio, and digital systems
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS personnel to incidents with precise location and threat details
- Operate Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and maintain accurate call logs
- Provide clear instructions to callers during critical incidents (CPR, active shooter, etc.)
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during large-scale emergencies
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information and comply with protocols
- Train on department-specific procedures and crisis management techniques
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED required)
- U.S. citizenship and minimum age of 18
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Exceptional communication and active listening skills
- Ability to remain calm and decisive during high-stress situations
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized dispatch software
- No felony convictions or domestic violence restraining orders
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
