Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems with precision and urgency
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incident reports
- Provide critical pre-arrival instructions to callers during emergencies
- Coordinate with multiple agencies (EMS, Fire, FBI) during complex incidents
- Utilize radio protocols and NIMS standards for seamless operations
- Undergo rigorous field training to achieve certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
- Minimum 60 WPM typing certification
- Valid NYS driver's license with clean record
- Ability to pass extensive background check and polygraph
- Experience with multi-line phone systems and CAD software
- Exceptional situational judgment and calm demeanor under pressure
- Must be 21 years old at time of appointment
