Responsibilities
- Process emergency calls and prioritize critical incidents using CAD/RMS systems
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units with GPS accuracy and real-time tracking
- Maintain detailed incident logs and coordinate multi-agency responses
- Provide crisis intervention and life-saving instructions to callers
- Operate radio equipment and maintain secure communication channels
- Adhere to NIMS protocols during major emergencies and disaster scenarios
- Train on NJ SPOT certification and jurisdiction-specific procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in criminal justice preferred
- Minimum 60 WPM typing proficiency with 95% accuracy
- Valid NJ driver's license with clean record
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Experience with multi-line phone systems or emergency dispatch software
- Fluency in English and Spanish (bilingual candidates strongly encouraged)
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure during critical incidents
- No felony convictions or domestic violence restraining orders
