Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for service with speed and accuracy.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical service units to incident scenes.
- Maintain precise logs and records of all dispatch activities and radio communications.
- Provide critical information to field units, citizens, and other agencies during active incidents.
- Monitor and operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio equipment.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new dispatch personnel.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and composure during high-stress situations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
- Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
- Ability to type at a minimum of 35 WPM (test administered during interview).
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screen, and medical evaluation.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
