Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, gathering critical information and dispatching appropriate resources
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and activities
- Operate radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and 9-1-1 equipment
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies
- Complete detailed incident reports and maintain confidential records
- Participate in continuous training to stay current on procedures and technologies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and psychological evaluation
- Strong multitasking skills with ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communication and active listening abilities
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn technical systems
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
- Must be able to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
