Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service from the public with clarity and composure.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel to incidents using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all communications, incidents, and unit status.
- Monitor radio frequencies and alert field units to changing situations, hazards, or requests for assistance.
- Provide critical information and instructions to callers during high-stress emergency situations.
- Collaborate with other dispatchers and supervisors to ensure seamless communication flow.
- Perform routine checks of communication equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid California Class C Driver's License is mandatory.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, medical exam, and psychological evaluation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and make quick decisions under pressure.
