Responsibilities
- Answer emergency/non-emergency calls with speed and precision
- Dispatch police officers, fire, and EMS resources during critical incidents
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and activities
- Operate radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and 911 infrastructure
- Provide clear instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major incidents
- Stay current on city geography and emergency protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified assessment required)
- Ability to pass background check and psychological evaluation
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- No felony convictions or domestic violence charges
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights/weekends
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work
- Strong stress management and multitasking abilities
