Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls following department protocols
- Operate radio systems to dispatch police units and coordinate responses
- Enter and maintain accurate data in CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems
- Provide clear instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Coordinate with other agencies (fire, EMS) during multi-jurisdictional emergencies
- Document all communications and actions in compliance with legal standards
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain certification and skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified by certificate)
- Valid California driver's license
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work
- No felony convictions
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong multitasking ability under pressure
