Responsibilities
- Answer emergency/non-emergency calls with rapid assessment and prioritization
- Dispatch police officers and emergency units using CAD systems
- Maintain precise radio communication during high-pressure incidents
- Enter/update incident data in real-time databases
- Coordinate with multi-agency responders (EMS, Fire, etc.)
- Provide critical information to officers in the field
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (college preferred)
- Valid New York State driver's license
- Minimum 35 WPM typing speed (tested)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- No felony convictions (misdemeanors reviewed case-by-case)
- Proficient in computer systems and multitasking
- Ability to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays)
- Strong situational judgment and calm demeanor
