Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with accuracy and compassion
- Operate multi-line telephone systems and radio communication equipment
- Dispatch appropriate emergency services (police, fire, EMS) using CAD systems
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incidents
- Provide critical information to first responders during active emergencies
- Utilize mapping software to determine incident locations and resource allocation
- Remain calm under pressure while managing multiple simultaneous calls
- Complete all required training modules to achieve full dispatcher certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 90% accuracy
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening
- Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
