Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch appropriate police units using CAD systems and radio communication
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all incidents and communications
- Provide critical information to officers in the field and coordinate resources
- Operate multiple communication systems simultaneously during high-stress situations
- Collaborate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) for integrated response
- Complete comprehensive certification training in protocols and systems
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- US citizenship and valid Virginia driver's license
- Ability to pass background check and polygraph examination
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 90% accuracy
- Exceptional communication and multitasking abilities
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanors
- Basic computer proficiency (Windows OS, MS Office)
