Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls from the public and first responders
- Operate Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communication equipment
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during fires, medical emergencies, and police operations
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and incident details
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and departmental procedures
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain certification and skills proficiency
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- US citizenship or legal authorization to work in the US
- Valid California driver's license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Fluency in English; bilingual Spanish/Chinese/Mandarin highly desirable
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
