Responsibilities
- Process emergency/non-emergency calls with accuracy and urgency
- Coordinate with officers, fire departments, and EMS via radio systems
- Input and maintain detailed CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) records
- Provide life-saving instructions during medical emergencies
- Adhere to strict protocols for crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Operate multi-channel communication systems during high-stress situations
- Complete 200+ hours of state-mandated dispatcher training
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to pass background check and polygraph examination
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and multi-tasking software
- Clear speaking voice with strong diction
- Ability to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays)
- No felony convictions or domestic violence charges
