Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical units using CAD systems and radio protocols
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Operate communication equipment including radios, telephones, and computer-aided dispatch systems
- Perform data entry and record maintenance in compliance with department policies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- U.S. citizenship and valid California driver's license
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 90% accuracy
- Clear speaking voice and exceptional communication skills
- Ability to multitask and remain calm during high-stress scenarios
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized dispatch software
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
