We are seeking resilient, detail-oriented individuals who thrive under pressure. The successful candidate will undergo rigorous on-the-job training to master radio systems, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software, and emergency protocols.
Responsibilities
- Receive & Dispatch: Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls and accurately dispatch police, fire, and medical units to incident locations.
- Monitor Systems: Continuously monitor law enforcement surveillance cameras, alarms, and status boards to maintain real-time situational awareness.
- Record Keeping: Log all calls for service, incident reports, and warrant information into the CAD system with high accuracy and speed.
- Communication: Provide clear, concise, and professional communication with officers in the field and citizens via phone and radio.
- Resource Management: Assist in the coordination of resources and traffic control to facilitate emergency response operations.
- Training: Actively participate in the dispatcher trainee program, shadowing senior dispatchers to develop essential skills.
- Support: Assist the Communications Center Supervisor in maintaining equipment and ensuring the center operates efficiently during all shifts.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Typing Skills: Must demonstrate excellent typing proficiency (minimum 35-40 WPM).
- Composure: Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional in high-stress, emergency situations.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and understand instructions.
- Schedule: Must be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Background: Must pass a comprehensive background check, drug screen, and medical examination.
