Responsibilities
- Handle Emergency Calls: Receive incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls with precision and composure, gathering critical details to assess the situation.
- Dispatch Resources: Utilize two-way radio and Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to relay vital information to police officers, fire personnel, and medical responders.
- Coordinate Response: Determine the appropriate resources required and dispatch units to the scene, monitoring their status in real-time to ensure a timely arrival.
- Manage Records: Maintain accurate, detailed logs of all communications, dispatches, and unit movements within the CAD system.
- Provide Assistance: Offer directions, safety instructions, and general information to citizens during emergencies and routine inquiries.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
- Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history, credit check, and fingerprinting.
- Driver's License: Valid California Class C Driver's License required.
- Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, typing proficiency (40+ WPM), and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Experience: Previous customer service or call center experience is a plus but not required for the Trainee position.
