As a Police Dispatcher Trainee, you will play a critical role in our communication center, serving as the vital link between citizens in need and emergency responders. We offer comprehensive training programs to prepare you for this high-stakes role.
Responsibilities
- Receive and accurately transmit emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical units to incident scenes.
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all calls and responses.
- Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communications equipment.
- Coordinate resources and provide pre-arrival instructions to callers.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and CCTV feeds when applicable.
- Perform shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- U.S. Citizenship and valid Missouri Class C Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph, and medical examination.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Proficient in typing and computer operation.
- Residency within a reasonable commuting distance of Kansas City, Missouri.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including rotating shifts and on-call requirements.
