Responsibilities
- Process emergency/non-emergency calls using CAD systems with precision and empathy
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical resources during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate radio communications with field units during emergencies
- Enter and update information in law enforcement databases with meticulous detail
- Multi-task between call-taking, radio dispatching, and data entry during high-volume periods
- Adhere to strict protocols for sensitive information and confidential communications
- Participate in continuous training to enhance emergency response capabilities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 40 WPM typing proficiency (certification required post-hire)
- Clear criminal background check and drug screening
- Valid California driver's license
- Ability to pass psychological evaluation and polygraph examination
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and computerized dispatch systems
- Exceptional active listening and de-escalation skills
- Ability to remain calm during life-threatening emergencies
