Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls from public and police personnel
- Operate radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch systems
- Dispatch appropriate police, fire, and medical units to emergency situations
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all communications
- Provide clear, concise information to callers and responding units
- Remain calm under pressure during critical incidents
- Collaborate with other agencies during multi-jurisdictional emergencies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum age 18 years at time of hire
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Basic computer proficiency and typing (minimum 30 WPM)
- Ability to multitask and make critical decisions
