Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism and empathy
- Dispatch police units efficiently using CAD systems and radio protocols
- Enter and maintain accurate incident reports in RMS databases
- Maintain constant situational awareness during active incidents
- Provide critical information to officers and emergency services
- Operate multi-line phone systems and communication equipment
- Adhere to department policies and confidentiality standards
- Complete all required training modules within designated timeframe
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be 18+ years old and a U.S. citizen
- Valid Indiana driver's license with clean record
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified assessment required)
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Excellent communication and multitasking abilities
- Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn specialized software
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure during emergencies
