Responsibilities
- Emergency Response: Receive and process 911 and non-emergency calls for service with speed and accuracy.
- Dispatch Coordination: Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to assign law enforcement, fire, and medical units to active incidents.
- Communication: Transmit clear, concise instructions to field personnel via radio while maintaining situational awareness.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, detailed logs of all calls, dispatches, and officer activities.
- Resource Management: Monitor radio frequencies and coordinate resources to ensure efficient workflow during peak times.
- Community Assistance: Provide information and assistance to the public, businesses, and other agencies regarding police services.
- Training Support: Assist in training new dispatch personnel and participate in quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Driver's License: Valid California Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Availability: Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and nights as required.
- Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to type effectively.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer literacy and the ability to multitask in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Eligibility: Must be a United States citizen or legal resident eligible for employment in the United States.
- Physical Requirements: Must pass a background investigation, drug screen, and medical examination.
