Responsibilities
- Receive and accurately process emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch police, fire, and emergency medical units to incident locations with precision and speed.
- Monitor radio frequencies and maintain constant communication with field personnel.
- Enter and update incident details into Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain a high level of situational awareness and de-escalate tense situations over the phone.
- Perform administrative duties, including record-keeping and report preparation.
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong typing skills (minimum 35-40 WPM required).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional under pressure.
- Proficiency with computers and basic software applications.
