Responsibilities
- Operate Communications Equipment: Monitor radio frequencies and utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to track and coordinate units.
- Emergency Response: Receive emergency and non-emergency calls, assess the situation, and dispatch appropriate police, fire, or medical resources.
- Information Management: Maintain accurate, up-to-date logs of all calls, incidents, and unit activities.
- Caller Assistance: Provide clear, calm, and accurate instructions to callers during high-stress situations.
- Unit Coordination: Communicate with field officers to provide traffic directions, weather updates, and situational awareness.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to type accurately.
- Background: Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screening, and medical exam.
- Availability: Must be available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- License: A valid, unencumbered North Carolina driver’s license is required.
