Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming emergency and non-emergency calls with speed, accuracy, and a calm demeanor.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and radio systems.
- Enter and maintain accurate incident reports, warrants, and other critical data in police databases.
- Monitor and maintain communication equipment and ensure all systems are functioning correctly.
- Provide information to the public, businesses, and other agencies while managing caller expectations.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel upon completion of the trainee program.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Arizona Class D Driverβs License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph, and drug screening.
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 wpm) and proficiency with computer applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills under pressure.
