Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls with speed and accuracy.
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units to various incidents using a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system.
- Monitor radio channels to maintain situational awareness and provide updates to field units.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all dispatch activities and incident reports.
- Provide critical information to officers and first responders to ensure officer and citizen safety.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new dispatch personnel.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Ability to type at least 35 words per minute.
- Clean criminal record; no felony convictions or serious misdemeanors.
- Must possess a valid Kentucky driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work well in a high-stress environment.
- Must be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
