Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for service with accuracy and speed.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical units to incident scenes using radio and telephone.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all calls, units dispatched, and incident details in the CAD system.
- Monitor and maintain status of patrol units and emergency vehicles in real-time.
- Provide information and assistance to the public regarding city services, road conditions, and non-emergency situations.
- Escort medical units to critical incidents and coordinate scene management when necessary.
- Stay calm under pressure and exercise sound judgment during high-stress emergency situations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years of age and U.S. Citizenship.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Texas Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute accurately.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple incoming communications simultaneously.
- Must pass a thorough background investigation, drug screen, and medical exam.
