Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch appropriate police units using CAD/RMS systems
- Maintain accurate radio communications with field personnel
- Enter/update sensitive incident data in real-time
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Provide crisis intervention and caller guidance during emergencies
- Operate specialized dispatch equipment and software
- Adhere to strict protocols for information confidentiality
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Valid Tennessee driver's license (or ability to obtain)
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations
- Basic computer literacy and typing proficiency (35+ WPM)
- Ability to multitask and prioritize complex information
- No felony convictions; misdemeanor case-by-case review
