Responsibilities
- Emergency Response: Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service with speed and accuracy.
- Unit Dispatch: Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incident locations using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Log Maintenance: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and logs of all calls, dispatches, and unit status.
- Communication: Provide critical information and assistance to citizens, businesses, and other government agencies.
- Monitoring: Monitor police radio frequencies, CCTV systems, and radar detection equipment for suspicious activity.
- Training Support: Collaborate with senior dispatchers during the trainee phase to master emergency procedures.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Skills: Strong typing skills (minimum 35-40 WPM).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly over radio.
- Mental Resilience: Ability to remain calm and make quick, logical decisions under high-stress situations.
- Schedule: Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Background: No criminal record; a background check and drug screen will be required.
