Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls from the public with speed and accuracy.
- Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to input critical information regarding incidents, requests for service, and officer status.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to appropriate locations using two-way radio systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of all dispatch activities and radio traffic.
- Provide essential information to responding officers, including suspect descriptions, vehicle details, and unit status.
- Monitor law enforcement activity and coordinate inter-agency communications during multi-agency incidents.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional telephone manner.
- Ability to type at a minimum of 35-40 words per minute.
- Strong ability to remain calm and make critical decisions in high-stress, emergency situations.
- Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, and medical exam.
